We made volcanoes at Jake's school today. It was a BLAST!
Many of you already know how to do this, but just in case you get bored, or have forgotten one of vinegar's "other" uses, here are the instructions to make a volcano erupt:Vinegar Volcano
You will need:
a parent or adult to help out
2 small plastic soda bottles
paper cone
vinegar
baking soda
red food discussion
liquid soap
large tray or plate
funnel
1. Make a paper cone to form volcano shape that is large enough to cover one of the soda bottles
2. Using a funnel, fill one of the bottles until it is about one-third (1/3) full of vinegar.
3. Add a few drops of red food coloring.
4. Add one tablespoon of liquid soap, and put bottle aside.
5. In second bottle, pour in three teaspoons of baking soda.
6. Place the paper cone over the bottle. Make sure that the volcano’s hole is level with the bottle opening.
7. Using a funnel, pour in the vinegar and soap mixture.
8. Remove the funnel and wait!

I remember doing that in school. It feels like ages ago.
It seems like you or Tiff did that in school. I have a memory of a green volcano in our kitchen when we lived by the highway. Do you remember this? It seems like it was someone's school project. It'll have to try this with Sydney. I bet she's love it! I love how excited the kids are in the picture.
Keri-you have a really good memory! Mrs. Hackney (my 4th grade teacher) assigned lots of fun science experiments for her class. One of them was that we had to build a volcano & figure out a way to make it erupt. Mine was made out of green playdo. They sat in the library at school on display until mine started to get moldy!
