Scout Encampment

Jake attended the Rise Up Scout Encampment with about 10,000 other young, sweaty and stinky boy scouts. Activities included BMX bikes, ropes course and about a zillion other things. Jake had a lot of fun, so much fun that he couldn't stay awake to appreciate the concert. It was 9 pm.

Lander didn't feel so hot today. He swears that he had to miss a movie in Mom and Dad's room because it was simply too much to climb the stairs. The sickness didn't linger and (luckily) he didn't need to put that handy bag to use. Good thing!

cousin dinner in Logan

Nate and Hilary hosted the Farnsworth cousin family dinner at their home in Logan. They surprised the kids with an inflatable water slide. It was a H-I-T!

Grandma Nala and Grandpa Farnsworth gave us the piano that they bought and used while they lived in Illinois.  We are super-dooper excited. 

Notable piano quote from Lander:

"You know what I realized yesterday when I practiced the piano? I love music more than anything. More than school, more than playing, even more than going to the bathroom."

Well-then...

Is that why Mom and Dad have to remind him to practice?

Josh has even got in to the piano playing obsession.  Obsession meaning, I think that he's tried playing it once, but it was a mean rendition of Chop Sticks.

meet Steve

Jake decided that his mourning was sufficiently completed, and purchased a new hamster (or "rodent" as Mom calls them). This is Steve, his new pet. And even Mom has to admit, this is a very, very nice rodent.

Epilogue: Steve's life was very short. We had the unfortunate experience of finding him in a coma one day after school in September. Despite our best efforts, he died in Jake's hands while Jake and Lander attempted to coax him back to life. He lived a good life, and died after a good fight.  It was a sad, sad day at our house.  Luckily, the boys are resilient, and we are now on to hamster #3, "Sam".

Yellow Belt

The boys have enjoyed Tae Kwan Do and have asked that we continue taking it. 

It has been a wonderful opportunity for our family.
