Istanbul's Basilica Cistern

We were in awe by the Basilica Cistern. It was built in 532 AD during the reign of Emperor Justinianus. 336 marble columns hold up the domed roof. The walls are made of a special brick and mortar mix that is waterproof.

If you look closely, you can see several large fish swimming in the water. I would guess that they were at least 20 plus inches long.
